Who knew the guy who made a silent entry into Pakistani media industry with a low key sitcom drama, Jutt and Bond would become the heartthrob of millions today!
Yes, you have assumed right! I am talking about the one and only, Fawad Afzal Khan. His name carries too much persona and I guess it says all about him.
So far, countless articles have been written and published about him but I wondered why I couldn’t jot down the strength to write something about my favorite Pakistani celebrity. Putting Fawad Khan into words is difficult but I can give it a try. So here goes my theory on why Fawad Khan has made a huge impact in Pakistan media Industry and Bollywood simultaneously.
Born into a Punjabi family, Fawad is a pure desi at heart. Though he was born in Karachi, right after travelling for thirteen years abroad, his family finally settled in Lahore. Since then, he’s been living in Lahore. (I consider myself extremely lucky for living in the same city as his. This way I feel close to him. Haha).
After starring in a much hyped Pakistani movie, Khuda Kay Liye, Fawad Khan’s acting career kick started. He kept shifting between singing and acting line of profession but it was in 2008 when he re-focused on his acting career more and signed up TV serials back to back.
Why is he a terrific actor? We have seen him blow away our minds with his impeccable performances in Dastaan, Akbari Asghari, Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. The climax scene in Humsafar where Asher confronts Farida for ruining his and Khirad’s life is a treat to watch. I have heard people praising it so much and they also consider it as an Oscar winning performance. The romantic yet mischievous chemistry Zaroon shares with Kashaf in Zindagi Gulzar Hai made Indian audience swoon. The progression of Zaroon as an individual in this serial was something remarkable. I loved how his character turns from being a flirtatious, prankster and Casanova type to a responsible young man who becomes a besotted lover and a possessive husband later in the serial. The witty Asghar of Akbari Asghari gave us a laugh riot with his outstanding comic timing. Who can forget the soulful and pure romance between Hassan and Bano in Dastaan? Each and every performance of his is magical, jaw dropping and has left us completely spellbound. The spectacular success of Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzai Hai changed his life in so many ways. Due to the popularity of these two shows, the Indian casting director decided to cast him opposite Sonam Kapoor in Khoobsurat. Who could simply ignore his charm anyway?
Do you think the above-mentioned reasons completely justify falling head over heels for Fawad Khan? Absolutely not! There are numerous reasons to love him.
Let’s start with his eyes! He is the only celebrity who has romantic eyes! Trust me on this. Who else can express feelings with just a stare? Fawad’s stare express a thousand emotions! His stare completely arrests you in its enchantment and make girls go weak in their knees.
Who can ignore his alluring voice? His voice is not only mesmerizing but deep. It becomes hard to concentrate on any other actor when Fawad is talking in the frame. His voice leaves a long lasting soothing effect for your ears.
After seeing him sporting a bearded look in the Tele film Behadd and his Bollywood debut, Khoobsurat, I have come to realize that even the beard appears cool now because he carried it off so perfectly. Though I prefer the clean shaven look but Fawad has made me fall in love with his bearded look. No other celebrity looks ultra-charming and sexy in a beard. This person has surely a universal appeal. Each and everything about him screams excellence. Yes, he is the epitome of perfection!
He is one of the well-dressed celebrities in Pakistan. His attire makes him look decent and at the same time impeccably stylish. His royal and suave personality in Khoobsurat proved that he is the only male star who could become the first Disney prince in Bollywood.
Last but definitely not the least; Fawad Khan is a darling at heart. He is so humble and grounded that makes you want him even more. The way he pays attention and listens to what you’re saying is absolute delightfulness. One of my most favorite gestures of his is when he offers thanks to someone; slightly bows his head and puts a hand across his heart. (I love it!) Apart from being a genuine person, he is an adoring husband and a caring father. Yes, he’s a family person.
Having met him thrice, I can easily say that I am proud to be his devoted fan and feel privileged to write something about him. Many of you wouldn’t know that Fawad Khan is the actual reason I started writing. When I’d started writing my debut novel, I only had two things in mind; first, the basic storyline of the novel and second, Fawad Khan. I knew nobody could be a better professor in my book than him. For the rest of the world, he might be a celebrity but for me he’s something else. For me, he’s my most favorite fictional character. For me, he’s Ahmar Muraad (The male lead fictional character of my debut book, Undying Affinity).
